SJSP Pilgrimage of the Saints of

N. America 2017-18

Join Fr. Ray Schimdt and Fr. Larry Swink on a SJSP pilgrimage to the great saints and sacred sites of North America this Christmas break 2017-18

ITINERARY: 

 ♦ Day 1 - Wed., Dec. 27: Depart St. John's  Early morning departure from St. John's Hollywood (6am ish).  Drive to Philadelphis to visit St. John Neumann, then to Bensalem, PA for St. Katharine Drexel and then to Convent Station for Bl. Miriam Teresa.  Drive to dinner and then hotel in Yonkers.  Driving times:  Bus from St. John's to Philadelphia (3.5 hrs); Bus to St. Katharine Drexel Shrine (30 min); Bus to Convent Station (1.5 hrs); Bus to Hotel in Yonkers (1 hr).  Mass at either the Shrine of St. John Neumann or the St. Elizabeth Chapel in Bensalem.

 

 ♦ Day 2 - Thurs., Dec. 28: Staten Island and Manhatten

Leave hotel at 7am; Drive to St. Peter's Cemetery in Staten Island to visit Servant of God Vincent Capodanno and then to Resurrection Cemetery (also Staten Island) to see Servant of God Dorothy Day.  We then bus to Manhattan to visit Servant of God Isaac Hecker at St. Paul the Apostle, Ven. Fulton Sheen, Ven. Pierre Toussaint and Servant of God Terence Cook at St. Patrick's Cathedral and then drive to see St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, also in Manhattan followed by dinner and hotel in Yonkers.  Driving times: Bus to St. Peter's Cemetery (1 hr); Bus to Resurrection Cemetery (30 min); Bus to St. Paul the Apostle (1 hr); Walk to St. Patrick's Cathedral (20 min); Bus to St. Frances Xavier Cabrini (45 min); Bus to hotel in Yonkers (20 min). Mass: St. Patrick's Cathedral

 ♦ Day 3 - Fri., Dec. 29: Hawthorne, NY - New Haven, CT - Quebec City

Bus to Hawthorne, NY to see Servant of God Rose Hawthorne Lathrop and then to New Haven, CT to see the Ven. Fr. Michael McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus, before making the drive north to Quebec City with dinner on the way.

Driving times: Hotel to Hawthorne, NY (20 min); Bus to New Haven, CT (1.5 hr) Bus to Quebec City (7.5 hrs). Mass: St. Mary's Church, New Haven, CT

 

 ♦ Day 4 - Sat., Dec. 30: Quebec City

Spend the day in and near Quebec City visiting  St. Marie of the Incarnation at the Ursuline Convent and then see St. Anne's arm at  The Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré.  Dinner in Quebec City.

Driving times: limited - in and around Quebec City. Mass: Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré

 

 ♦ Day 5 - Sun., Dec. 31: Quebec City

A day of options!  Ski with Fr. Larry Swink, or enjoy Quebec City with Fr. Ray.  Bring money for skiing if that's your choice.

 ♦ Day 6 - Mon., Jan. 1: Quebec City - Montreal - Queensbury, NY

Depart Quebec City early morning and drive to Montreal to visit St. Marguerite Bourgeoys, St. Francois de Laval at Notre-Dame Basilica, St. Kateri Tekakwitha, St. Andre Bessette at St. Joseph's Oratory, St. Marguerite d'Youville and see Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral.  Depart early evening to bus to Queensbury for dinner and hotel. 

Driving times: Quebec City to Montreal (2 ¾ hrs); Montreal to Queensbury, NY (3 hrs). Mass: Notre-Dame Basilica or Shrine of St. Kateri Tekakwitha. 

 

 ♦ Day 7 - Tues., Jan. 2: Queensbury - Auriesville - Emmittsburg - Hollywood

Drive to Auriesville to visit Shrine of the North American Martyrs - St. Isaac Jogues, St. Rene' Goupil and St. John Lalande; bus to Emmittsburg, MD to visit St. Elizabeth Ann Seton; bus home to St. John's.  

Driving times: Hotel to Auriesville (1.25 hrs); to Emmittsburg (6.25 hrs); to Hollywood, MD (2.5 hrs).  Mass at National Shrine of Elizabeth Ann Seton, Emmittsburg, MD.
