SJSP COVID-19 Response Plan

Curbside Pick Up/ Drop off

  • Campers will be dropped off and picked up curbside.

    • Parents are not permitted in the building except for emergencies.

  • Upon arrival, but before entering the building, campers and staff will go through a quick health screening, which will include temperatures taken by a digital, no-touch, forehead thermometer (recorded daily) and a few short questions regarding potential COVID-19 exposure.

    • Children and staff with temperature of 100.4 will be sent home

      • If found with a 100.4 temperature (Fahrenheit), they are allowed to come back to camp to be rechecked after two weeks of no symptoms and will be reported to local health professionals

      • At least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since recovery defined as resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and improvement in respiratory symptoms (e.g., cough, shortness of breath)

  • After a quick and successful health screening, campers will sanitize their hands.

    • Hand Sanitizer and hand washing stations will be located throughout the camp.

  • Campers will be walked by an instructor to their camps.

  • Masks must be worn by all campers over the age of 9 and instructors (as appropriate)

  • Masks should be cleaned daily.

Children should not attend child care if anyone in the household has symptoms suggestive of COVID-19, whether a health care worker or not. The child should be quarantined at home for 14 days to observe for symptoms. Contact the local health department for guidance regarding the need to close or quarantine other persons if the parent had close, prolonged contact with other persons in the building. See CDC recommendations for ways to minimize close, prolonged contact to parents. Parents and staff should minimize such contact.

  • Exercise each day

  • Get sufficient amount of sleep

Possible Closing of Camp

  • “Initial closing is to allow time for thorough cleaning and sanitizing the entire area, contact assessment and communication. The total center closure could last for 14 days or more depending on several factors including the identity of the person with COVID-19 or probable COVID-19 (i.e., staff, child in care, household contact), number of persons or classrooms exposed, when the person with COVID-19 or probable COVID-19 was last at the child care center , and symptoms in other persons exposed. The local health department and licensing specialist should be consulted for guidance about reopening

    • NOTE: Program Closure may be shorter than 14 days, and the program may be able to reopen, if a person with symptoms of COVID-19 is tested for COVID-19 and results are negative. Reopening decisions and approvals are made on a case by case basis.”

We are responding with up to date mandates and official regulations put out by the Maryland Health Department and other accredited supervisors within the healthcare field. With that being said, we are responding, adapting, and checking our protocols every day to ensure that the safety of all the campers and staff are held at the highest priority. **
